Overview
Named after the Bollywood film Betaab, this Lidder Valley meadow sits surrounded by pine forests and snow peaks. Entry via a short drive from Pahalgam town — private cars stop at the checkpoint; walk or local cab inside. Allow 1.5–2 hours on site.
What to do
Meadow walks, family photos, pony rides, and riverside picnics. The Lidder River runs nearby — good for casual wading in summer (supervise children). Small food stalls operate in season. Very popular mid-morning — arrive by 9 AM for fewer crowds.
Typical routing
Usually covered in a Pahalgam local sightseeing loop with Aru and Baisaran. Full valley cab hire from Pahalgam: ₹2,000–₹3,500 for half day. Entry fee to the valley area applies (nominal, seasonal).
Best season
May to October for green meadows. Winter can be snow-covered and access may be limited. Monsoon months bring lush green but occasional rain — carry a light poncho.
