The waterfall

Aharbal Falls drops about 25 metres into a narrow gorge on the Veshu River in Kulgam district. Best flow in spring and early summer when snowmelt feeds the river. The roar and mist create a dramatic stop — allow 1–2 hours at the site.

Getting there

About 75 km from Srinagar via Shopian, roughly 2.5–3 hours one way. Usually combined as a day trip from Srinagar or en route to/from Pahalgam if routing carefully. Cab day trip: ₹3,000–₹5,000 depending on vehicle and waiting time.

Safety and access

Viewpoints have fencing but rocks near the gorge are slippery from spray. Wear grippy shoes; supervise children closely. No swimming near the falls — currents are strong. Carry rain layer for mist exposure.
